A Non-Plastic Coffee Maker You’ll Actually Want on Your Counter

The Filtrare Coffee Maker is a one-piece, plastic-free pour over brewer made entirely from high-quality ceramic - no plastic in the brewer, no clutter, just beautifully filtered coffee.

Many Coffee Makers Are Full of Plastic

If you’ve been slowly removing plastic from your kitchen, your coffee setup is probably next on the list.

Many drip machines and pour over brewers still rely on plastic components where it matters most — around hot water, steam, and your freshly brewed coffee. They collect stains, trap odours, and often come with extra stands, lids, and accessories that clutter up your counter.

A Simple, All-Ceramic Alternative to Plastic Coffee Makers

The Filtrare ceramic coffee maker was created for people who care about what touches their coffee — and what sits on their counter.

Each piece is crafted from high-quality ceramic, with your hot water and coffee only ever touching ceramic and a paper filter. Its seamless, one-piece design replaces the usual dripper-plus-carafe setup with a single sculptural form that feels at home in any space.

  • No Plastic in Your Brewer

Your hot water, beans and coffee only touch ceramic and a paper filter — nothing else.

  • One Piece, Less Clutter

No separate plastic dripper. No extra stands or trays. Just one carefully designed ceramic coffee maker.

  • Handmade in Small Batches

Handmade in Chicago, USA, each Filtrare piece is produced in limited runs, not on a factory conveyor.

Why We Designed an All-Ceramic Coffee Maker

Filtrare started with a simple shift. We were phasing out plastic in our daily routines, but our coffee gear still felt fussy and fragile. We were tired of plastic brew cones, multi-piece setups, and makers we needed to hide in a cupboard. We wanted one durable ceramic piece that could come along camping, brew more than a single serving and still feel special on any table.

FAQ's

Questions About Going Plastic-Free?

Is any part of the Filtrare coffee maker plastic?

The Filtrare coffee maker is crafted from high-quality ceramic, with your hot water and coffee only ever touching ceramic and a paper filter. There are no plastic components in the brew path.

What filters does it use?

Filtrare works best with Chemex style paper filters. The classic square Chemex filters give the cleanest fit in the cone, but the half moon style also sits nicely once folded. The cone shape is forgiving, so similar pour over filters in a comparable size can work as well if you already have favourites on hand.

Many stainless steel filters fit as well. Many products stating it's compatible with Chemex, will work with Filtrare.

How durable is a ceramic coffee maker?

Ceramic is naturally sturdy and built to last with everyday care—more substantial than thin glass, and without the disposable feel of plastic. While it can break if dropped or knocked hard, it’s designed as a long-term piece you’ll reach for daily.

How do I clean it?

After brewing, discard the filter and grounds, then rinse your Filtrare coffee maker with warm water. For a deeper clean, use a mild, non abrasive dish soap. A soft, round silicone bottle cleaning brush works especially well for reaching inside the cone and carafe without scratching the glaze. Avoid harsh scouring pads or abrasive cleaners to help keep the finish smooth over time.

Is the glaze food-safe?

Yes. Our glazes are food-safe and suitable for daily use with hot liquids.

Is this better for the environment than plastic?

Filtrare is designed as a long-lasting alternative to typical plastic coffee makers. By choosing a durable ceramic piece made in small batches, you’re investing in a brewer meant to be kept, not replaced frequently.

Where is it made?

Filtrare coffee makers are designed in Canada and handmade in small batches in Chicago, Illinois.

How much coffee does it make?

Capacity: 52 oz  /  6.5 cups  /  1.5 L

Filtrare is sized for what we like to call “coffee for two”—or a generous single pour if you prefer a larger mug.
