Usage and Care

How do I use a Filtrare pour over coffee maker?

Place a filter in the coffee maker, add your ground coffee, and slowly pour hot water over the grounds in a circular motion. Allow the coffee to filter through into the carafe for a rich, flavorful brew.

Please visit our how to make the best pour over coffee page for videos and instructions on different coffee recipes!

What type of filters do I need for Filtrare coffee makers?

Our coffee makers are designed to work with many filter types, but our favorite is the Chemex paper filters.

As a limited time bonus - you'll receive a starter pack of these paper filters, so you can start making coffee as soon as you receive your Filtrare brewer!

Can I reheat coffee in my Filtrare coffee maker?

Filtrare coffee makers should not be placed directly on a stovetop, burner, or open flame. A sudden jump in temperature can put stress on the ceramic and may cause cracking or damage.

To keep coffee warm, we recommend using an electric mug warming plate on a low setting, no higher than 200°F.

How do I clean my ceramic coffee maker?

Rinse thoroughly with warm water after each use. For deeper cleaning, use a mild dish soap and a soft sponge. A round bottle brush, similar to those used for baby bottles, works well for cleaning the inside of the coffee maker. For the spout or pour channel, a narrow straw cleaning brush can help reach smaller areas.

Avoid abrasive cleaners, steel wool, or rough scrubbers, as they may damage the ceramic finish.

Is the ceramic dishwasher safe?

Yes, our coffee makers are dishwasher safe, but handwashing is recommended to preserve their finish and longevity.

Do I need the matching ceramic lid?

The lid is optional, but helpful if you like to brew more than one cup at a time or want your coffee to stay warmer between pours. It also gives the brewer a finished look on the counter.

General Product Questions

What makes Filtrare coffee makers unique?

Filtrare coffee makers combine the cone and carafe into one handcrafted ceramic piece, so there’s no separate dripper to manage. Each brewer is designed in Canada and handmade in small batches in Chicago, with ceramic construction that offers durability, heat retention, and a sculptural look meant to live beautifully on your counter.

The Victorian features a refined spout and generous handle for a classic pour-over feel, while the Scandinavian has a cleaner modern form with an integrated pour channel. Both are designed for daily use, easy pouring, and brewing enough to share.

Are your coffee makers handcrafted?

Yes, every Filtrare coffee maker is meticulously handcrafted by skilled artisans, making each piece truly one-of-a-kind.

What materials are used in Filtrare coffee makers?

Filtrare coffee makers are crafted from high-quality ceramic, chosen for its durability, heat retention, and timeless feel. Ceramic holds warmth beautifully, helping support a steady brewing temperature and keeping coffee warmer between pours.

Each piece is finished with food-safe, non-toxic glazes, carefully applied by hand. The result is a brewer that’s not only beautiful and enduring, but safe to use every day — a thoughtful blend of artistry and integrity in every detail.

What’s the difference between in-stock, Limited Editions, and made-to-order?

In Stock pieces are available now and ship quickly.

Limited Editions are also in stock, but in very small quantities and may not return once sold out.

Made to Order pieces are created after you purchase, so they take a little longer to ship.

What is the difference between the Scandinavian and Victorian designs?

The Scandinavian design is sleek and minimalist, characterized by the clean lines and simplicity typical of Scandinavian aesthetics. The Victorian design, by contrast, features elegant, traditionally inspired curves that reflect the ornate style of the Victorian era.
